The evening plan

Board at Telianala Ghat by 4:15 PM; the boat casts off around 4:45 PM. Times follow the district schedule and are confirmed on WhatsApp.

1. 4:15 PM

   Report at Telianala Ghat

   Meet your crew at the GhatGo desk on Telianala Ghat. Marigold welcome, life jackets issued and a short safety briefing before you step aboard.

2. 4:45 PM

   Cast off as the first diyas are lit

   The boat pulls away just as the riverfront starts to light up. This is the golden window for photographs — daylight on the ghats, flame on the steps.

3. 5:45 PM

   Cruise the full riverfront

   Ghat by ghat down the crescent, with your boatman naming each one and what it is known for, while the diya count on the steps climbs into the lakhs.

4. 6:30 PM

   Anchor for the Maha Ganga Aarti

   We hold position opposite Dashashwamedh Ghat for the ceremonial Dev Deepawali aarti — conch, brass lamps and chanting, seen from the water rather than the crush of the steps.

5. 7:30 PM

   Laser & projection show at Chet Singh Ghat

   The boat repositions for the laser show, which is projected onto the ghat facade specifically to be viewed from mid-river.

6. 8:00 PM

   Fireworks finale

   The fireworks display closes the evening over open water, mirrored in the Ganga right below you.

7. 8:30 PM

   Return to Telianala Ghat

   Back at the boarding ghat. Total time on the water is a minimum of three hours, and we do not cut the evening short if the schedule runs late.

Three hours is the floor, not the ceiling. If the aarti or fireworks run late, the boat stays out.

Practical

Before you go

Reach Telianala Ghat early

Roads around the ghats are closed to traffic on Dev Deepawali evening. Plan to be at Telianala Ghat by 4:15 PM — the last stretch is usually on foot, and boats cannot wait past cast-off.

Dress for the river at night

Late November evenings on the water are genuinely cold once the sun drops. Carry a jacket or shawl, and wear flat shoes you can walk the ghat steps in.

Photography is welcome

Personal cameras and phones are welcome throughout. Please avoid flash during the aarti. Drones are not permitted anywhere near the ghats on festival nights.

Timings are indicative

The aarti, laser show and fireworks follow the district administration’s schedule, which is finalised close to the date. We confirm your exact boarding time on WhatsApp before the event.

Families and elders

The boats are stable, seated and railed, and life jackets are provided for everyone on board. Tell us at pre-booking if you are travelling with children or elders and we will seat you on the lower deck.

Safety first, always

Every boat is a verified GhatGo partner vessel with a licensed boatman. If the river or weather is declared unsafe, we reschedule or refund the full amount except 2.5% retained as a convenience fee covering payment-gateway charges, rather than sail.
